(registration starts at 8am)
Piedmont Triad Community Research Center

The Piedmont Regional Contractors Symposium is a one-day event that offers contractors access to possibly $3 billion in contract opportunities. This one day event will showcase jobs/projects, speakers, networking opportunities, sponsors, vendors, project owners and much more. This event targets contractors, brings awareness to the community as a whole such as Churches, business owners, trade associations, governments, universities and citizens. The purpose of the symposium is to bring project owners together with contractors, lenders, government funding, labor representatives and other resources to create jobs and improve the economic activity in the Piedmont Region.

This seems like a useful activity for bringing people together. While it seems likely that project owners would somehow find contractors anyway, perhaps the conversations will lead to some interesting ideas about how to support entrepreneurs or to devise new economic base strategies.

In fact, the event organizers could think of a way to stimulate those conversations. They could ask people to come up with one outlandish idea for moving Winston-Salem forward, or three things they individually could do that week to encourage positive business activity, etc.

I hope this is a successful event.
