Chef's Challenge New Component at Salute! NC Wine Festival In Downtown Winston-Salem



The Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership announced the details of the sixth annual Salute! The North Carolina Wine Celebration, presented by BB&T, to be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011, along Fourth Street in Downtown Winston-Salem. Over 30 North Carolina wineries will showcase their products, offering wine sampling and purchase. Last year’s festival drew over 7,500 attendees from across the state and the Southeast region.

New for 2011, The NC Food & Wine University will feature a chefs’ cook-off challenge, Iron Chef style! Chef Billy Parisi, Executive Chef of Lowes Foods, will compete against two local chefs- from WS Prime and Mozelle’s Southern Bistro. Secret ingredients will be revealed the day of and they will have 45 minutes to creative unique recipes from said ingredients. A few lucky festival goers will serve as the “Chef’s Challenge Focus Group” to decide the winner. The special “Chef’s Challenge” flights will take place at 1:30 and 2:30 pm respectively.

Tickets for the wine festival may be purchased online at www.salutencwine.com, all North Carolina Lowes Foods stores, select BB&T branches, Whole Foods in Winston-Salem, or at Triad Total Wine Stores. Ticket prices are $20 in advance, and $25 at the gate. Admission to the AfterParty is free.
