Another addition to downtown - The Bridge at Brookstown

As things happen downtown, the DWSP works to find out what is happening. I had the positive fortune to meet with Margaret and Craig Arey with The Bridge at Brookstown at their 235 South Cherry Street location in the old Best Western Hotel.

The Bridge At Brookstown is an innovative and sophisticated substance abuse center for professionals which offers a customized client centered approach to treatment. They opened their doors in December 2008 and have already helped over 20 patients and their families through its addictions recovery program. The Bridge has brought six full-time and three part-time employees to our commity and has also done significant work on the facility to remodel it into a state of the art treatment facility.

The facility believes in treating people in a "real world" environment rather than an "out of the place" location. Downtown Winston-Salem benefits from having additional people frequent downtown businesses as well as the adaptive reuse of the hotel site.
