Cobblestone Farmers Market Kicks Off 2011 Season with new name and location. Opening Day will be Tuesday, April 19 at 10:00am

Cobblestone Farmers Market, formerly Krankies Farmers Market, is an all-local venue for nearby sustainable farms and for shoppers interested fresh vegetables and fruit as well as eggs, honey, breads and pasture-fed meats. The market is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays from April 19 through November 29. You’ll find it in a cobblestone area near Third Street and Patterson, across from its previous site behind Krankies Coffee.

Vendors are visited and screened to assure that they are using sustainable practices and in 2011, for the first time, the market will be accepting EBT (food stamps that are now a card to be swiped). Live music, cooking demonstrations and lunch prepared by local chefs will be part of each Tuesday’s market. Parking is available nearby. The market is a project of Cultivate Piedmont, a newly formed program of the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (www.carolinafarmstewards.org).
