The 21st annual Winston-Salem Jaycees Downtown Holiday Parade will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at 5 pm in downtown Winston-Salem. The parade will be followed by the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The parade, sponsored by the Winston-Salem Jaycees, is a city-wide event that features local businesses, non-profits, schools and organizations. Registration can be completed online at the parade’s website, www.wsparade.org and is open to any interested organization. Walking, dignitary, and animal entries are free; non-profit vehicle entries are $25; homemade floats, vehicle, media and beauty queen entries are $50.
The parade route begins at the intersection of Fourth and Poplar Streets and ends at Corpening Plaza. The event is rain or shine. Contests are also held (all parade participants are entered) for the following categories: Most Outstanding Float from a Local Business, Most Outstanding Float from a Local Non-Profit, Holiday Spirit Award for the Most Spirited Walking Group and Best High School Marching Band.
The Winston-Salem Jaycees is a non-profit organization devoted to cultivating leaders by providing fun, innovative opportunities for individuals to develop personal, business and leadership skills through community service and organizational involvement.
