A long time business located in downtown Winston-Salem in the Winston Tower building was chosen to receive the 18th Annual Best Education Software Award (BESSIE) for the early elementary literacy and mathematics category.

Hatch, based in Winston-Salem, is a provider of technology for early learning. SMART Technologies Inc. is a provider of collaboration products. CoreFocus is a content product designed for SMART Notebook software. Presented by The ComputEd Gazette, the BESSIE Awards honor innovative and content-rich programs and websites that provide parents and teachers with the technology to foster educational excellence.
