Winston-Salem State University will be making football history on Saturday, December 10, when they take on Wayne State University in the NCAA Division II Football Championship’s semifinal game at Bowman Gray Stadium here in Winston-Salem.
It is exciting to have this game being played in our city and with several graduates from our high schools playing on this outstanding team, including Cedrick Hickman, a running back from North Forsyth, Landen Thayer, kicker from West Forsyth, and Daven Gray, defensive lineman from Glenn.
With a win Saturday, Winston-Salem State would make its first trip to the national championship game and it would be the first ever championship appearance for a CIAA team.
Given that the Rams are representing all of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County as they march forward toward the goal of a national championship and a 15-0 season, the community has an opportunity to support the team and the university on Saturday. The game time has not been announced, but tickets are available at the WSSU Ticket Office in the Anderson Center, the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum Box Office and at Ticketmaster.com.
Ticket prices are $15 for general admission and $10 for all students from area colleges and high schools with a valid school ID. Parking is $12 for the South Lot and $10 for the East and West Lots. You can visit WSSURams.com for the game time and all of the particulars for next week’s NCAA Division II National Semifinal.
